Virus Starts Playing AC/DC Song in Iran's Nuclear Facility - as part of the news series by GeoBeats.
A facility used for enriching uranium in Iran and an underground secret nuclear facility outside of Tehran have been the victims of a hacker virus. The virus makes the computers turn on at night and play the song “Thunderstruck” by American rock band AC/DC. The Chief Researcher at Finnish digital security firm F-secure, received a letter from an undisclosed Iranian scientist explaining the problem, and published it on his blog. Although there is no way prove that it was written by an Iranian scientist, he is able to provide proof that the email came from the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran’s internet server.
The Iranian nuclear program has been the target of other computer viruses as well. According to a report by the Washington Post, it is suspected that the United States government, working with Israeli forces, has developed an advanced computer system virus aimed at collecting information about Iran’s nuclear program. Although neither the Israeli nor the US government have spoken on the subject, some of the virus code matches the code written for another virus program called Stuxnet, which may prove the government’s involvement in the project.
