UK Hotel Replaces Bibles With Fifty Shades of Grey - as part of the news series by GeoBeats.
The novel, Fifty Shades of Grey continues to stir up controversy in its wake. Most recently, the Damson Dene Hotel in England has replaced bedside Bibles with the erotic book in all of the 40 guest rooms. The hotel owner rationalized his decision by stating "Tonight millions of women will be curling up in bed with a good book and you can bet your life it won't be the Bible. More likely than not it will be Fifty Shades of Grey." He claims he had been pondering nightstand reading substitutions for some time. The decision stirred protests and as one local puts it, “It is a shame that the Bible has been taken out. But I am sure it will be put back in the future.”
Earlier in the month, 'Fifty Shades of Grey' caused an altercation between a young couple. An argument escalated after a young man’s girlfriend refused to stop reading the book that he called ‘distasteful’. He poured brown sauce over his partner during the altercation, reportedly to show her “what saucy really meant”.
