The head of the Roman Catholic Church is due to arrive in Mexico on Friday.

It will be Pope Benedict the 16th's first trip to the country.

Preparations are underway in the city of Leon, where an estimated three million pilgrims are expected to attend mass.

After Mexico, Benedict will tour Cuba, likely pushing for permission to build catholic schools and seminaries.
