Ahead of a citywide celebration, the residents of a Ukranian town are concerned about pigeons relieving themselves and covering a popular monument in bird droppings.
A local city official has proposed a novel solution to this age old problem - “Let’s give them wine-soaked bread and then deport them somewhere where they’ll wake up the next day."
Even if this proposal were to be implemented, who knows, those pigeons still might be able to find their way back. Pigeons have amazing flying skills - their brains are said to changes in earth's magnetic field. They were used extensively in World War I and World War II - some of them have even received awards for saving soldiers' lives during war.
Getting back to that unusual suggestion for avoiding bird droppings and whether this would be animal abuse, the city official notes that this has been done before by a monastery.
