Saving the wounded on Libya's eastern front

Hatem Al Hodairy, a microbiologist, has volunteered to drive ambulances for the rebels in east Libya.

The conditions are harrowing: Four other crews have been lost, some of them have been arrested and executed by forces loyal to longtime Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, Hodairy says.

Lacking many basic medical supplies (reportedly looted by Gaddafi's troops) he and area doctors are doing their best to save wounded opposition fighters.

Al Jazeera's Hoda Abdel Hamid reports from eastern Libya.
