Funnymen Ben Stiller, Jonah Hill and Vince Vaughn took a stroll down the red carpet for the premiere of their newest comedy film, "The Watch," on Monday evening (July 23).
Joining the usual suspects of American comedy films is British comedian Richard Ayoade. The film marks his acting debut in a leading role. Although he was the new kid on the block, the filming process proved to be learning experience, for his co-stars.
"The Watch" follows four ordinary guys who form a neighborhood watch. They unknowingly stumble upon an extraterrestrial invasion in their own neighborhood and set out to become local heroes.
The film was under fire earlier this year when teenager Trayvon Martin was shot and killed in Florida by a man who claimed he was fulfilling his duties of neighborhood watch. As a result, the original title of the film, "Neighborhood Watch," was scrapped.
The cast hopes audiences realize there is no connection between the shooting and the film and hope fans can still enjoy the film.
"We're just a comedy, you know. The point of this movie is for people to laugh. It's a broad comedy, kind of absurdist about aliens you know, coming down. So, it really has nothing to do with that event and I hope people just laugh and enjoy the film," said Ben Stiller.
"The Watch" hits U.S. theaters July 27.
