Even Ultra-Luxury Cars Can Be Recalled - as part of the news series by GeoBeats.

If you are buying a car over $100,000, you'd probably assume it'll be safe from any recalls. Not so for some Porsche customers.

Porsche is recalling several car models from the year 2011 and 2012. One of them, Panamera Turbo S costs over $170,000 dollars. The company says - the titanium-aluminum alloy turbine wheels of the turbocharger, which were provided by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, could break because they were improperly cast.

As reported by Chicago Tribune, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration explains the risk - A fracture can cause a chain reaction in which the turbine shaft cracks, oil is sucked into the exhaust system causing smoke and possibly a fire.

Porsche says it first learned about the problem after an incident in Syria last October and is aware of 37 failures so far around the world but does not know of any accidents yet.

In the history of auto recalls, the largest one was in October, 2009. Ford recalled over 14 million cars that had faulty cruise control switches and could cause a fire.

Have you ever had a vehicle that was recalled?
