Nursing Home to Start Getting Confiscated Liquor - as part of the news series by GeoBeats.

Who says nursing home facilities are too serious and not much fun?

A Police Department will be sending $10,000 worth of confiscated liquor every year to a home for elderly residents.

The Holy Family Residence is located in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

The facility used to get confiscated alcohol from the police department in the past but that had stopped recently.

Sister Theresa Robertson from the residence sent a letter in June, requesting renewal
"It has been several years since we have received any liquor from the Police Dept. We respectfully request your help with a donation of confiscated liquor. It has always been such a pleasant treat for some of our residents."

And now that request has been approved which surely will delight people living there.

Billions of dollars worth of goods are confiscated by authorities around the world every year. Many are destroyed like tobacco and others are either given to non-profit organizations or sold through auctions.

The Travel Channel recently glamorized the world of those auctions through its new show 'Storage wars' which follows individuals who go to the auctions and bid on items that turned up at various airports.
