"Gebran was murdered in a massive car blast on 12th December 2005 at 8:59 am Beirut time. Just four days before his death, Tueni, always an outspoken critic of Syria, used his column to charge the regime in Damascus with "crimes against humanity." Gebran Tueni was twice married and is survived by his widow Siham Asseily and his four daughters: Nayla, Michelle, and the infant twins Gabrielle and Nadia, who were born on August 1, 2005."
