The idea for the DB4 design was born in 1950, when a man called John Wyer started working as the competitions manager at the Feltham works, having previously worked as the managing director for sports cars with the company Monaco Engineering. Harold Beach was another new recruit at the time, who had previously worked on ancillary equipment and commercial vehicles.
