Pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi is greeted by French officials in Paris to plant a tree for freedom.
As the Myanmar opposition leader neared the last leg of her European tour, she met French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius and guests at the French Foreign Ministry.
Fabius praised Suu Kyi's moral strength at the well-attended gathering.
In the ministry garden, Suu Kyi helped plant a symbolic tree before using the occasion to push for assistance in her country.
SOUNDBITE: MYANMAR PRO-DEMOCRACY LEADER, AUNG SAN SUU KYI, SAYING (English):
"So investment, aid, whether developmental or humanitarian, should be carefully tailored and calibrated in order to help the process of reform. I do not think that I need to remind the people of France and the French government, how important are such values as liberty, equality and fraternity but for us, these are still prizes to be won."
Guests at the event included French actor Alain Delon.
Suu Kyi is nearing the end of her 17-day tour of Europe which has taken her to Switzerland, Ireland and the UK.
