STORY: Flooding worsened in the northeastern Indian state of Assam on Tuesday (June 26) after heavy rainfall breached embankments and overwhelmed several villages and towns.

Across the region, flood waters inundated villages and farmlands and the water levels of the Brahmaputra River and its tributaries crossed the danger mark at various places in the state.

Local media reported the situation resulted in the death of at least ten people.
