Iraqi authorities survey the destruction on a local soccer pitch.
It was a bloody night in the predominantly Shi'ite city of Hilla, where a bomb killed nine soccer players and fans between the ages of 15 and 20.
The minibus bomb detonated just after two youth teams finished a match.

"There were also two police vehicles but people were entering (the soccer pitch) without being searched because they were all players and those who detonated the bomb were wearing sports clothes too. The car blew up as people started to leave, damaging our houses."
More than 30 others were injured in the attack, 100 kilometres south of Baghdad.
Sectarian bombings targeting Shi'ites have claimed more than 140 lives this month alone.
