Foam Cup Art by Boey - as part of the series on arts by GeoBeats.
What do you do after you have used a styrofoam cup? Throw it away, ofcourse!
Boey, however, has figured out a way to transform them into masterful creations. He creates remarkably intricate drawings using his sharpie pen on foam cups.
The subjects depicted in these drawings cover a wide range and include life in places he has lived, nature scenes, and aspects of world culture.
When asked during an interview with the Orange County Register, why he doesn't use a more solid surface like a ceramic cup, he replied - Yes, Styrofoam is kind of flimsy but it's strong in other ways. "When you drop it, it never cracks."
Given how intricate his works are and challenges in working with a surface that's not flat, Boey's pieces can take days, even months to complete.
So what are your thoughts on this foam art?
