Dump Truck Fire Dieppe New Brunswick

2012-06-19 1

A dump truck fire started just after 5:30 PM in front of the Sobeys on Regis street in Dieppe. Live power lines were down on the road , knocking out power to Champlain Mall and Canadian Tire. Dieppe Fire Department & Codiac RCMP responded to the fire call blocking off Paul, Regis, Kennedy streets. Firefighters couldn't put out the fire while they awaited NB Power to arrive to shut off the power. Police had to deal with a huge crowd of people that formed to watch the fire that was close to natural gas lines in the area and Paul street is under construction right now widening the street. The dump truck burnt for over a hour until the power was shut off and firefighters were permitted to put out the fire. Nobody was in the dump truck when the first RCMP Officer arrived at the scene. At 6:45 PM Dieppe Firefighters had the fire out . NB Power is still on scene and the roads still blocked as of 9 PM. You could see the thick black smoke from downtown Moncton.
