About being positive and optimistic in the face of life's trials and tribulations - the kind of things that happen to most (love, disappointments, frustrations...). It is actually one of the very first songs I wrote as a teenager, starting out as a songwriter...
Revisited this past year as part of my ongoing tinkersong project, thus recording it properly for the first time. In the process the song was reinvigorated with some new musical ideas; I came up with a mantra-like ending (the 'Everything's gonna be OK' outro). Now a 'proper' song, I'm pleased with how it has turned out, particularly with some of the harmony work.
Written in Liverpool, performed on guitar in the Isle of Man, Stirling, even France and Spain as a 'party piece.'
Like the recording, the video is a home-made effort. Part-shot in a local park, a little self-consciously, on a cold, December afternoon; then at home (the planned chroma key not being feasible). This is a new render of the original AVCHD footage.
