The Yemeni army says they've taken back the southern town of Jaar from al Qaeda linked militants.
Twenty-four people were killed in heavy fighting.
Capturing Jaar is seen as a major victory for the U.S.-backed Yemeni army. The town of 100,000 has been under al Qaeda control since it was captured by an off-shoot of the group last year.
Residents say the militants fled under cover of darkness.
