Fears of fresh violence in Kyrgyzstan

Just a few months after deadly violence ruptured relations between ethnic communities in Kyrgyzstan, police are playing down rumours of inter-ethnic violence flaring up in Osh, claiming the situation is calm.

However, as Kyrgyz political parties enter a month long election campaign ahead of a parliamentary polls in October, critics say tension between ethnic Uzbeks and Kyrgyz is high.
