US senators have expressed concern over the progress of the war in Afghanistan and cast doubt about President Obama's exit strategy.
At a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing on Wednesday, the senators said the US people were "confused" and called for clarity on what needs to be achieved.
But Richard Holbrooke, the US special envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan, says abandoning the conflict soon would be catastrophic.
