Egypt's Sinai border is a major transit route for African migrants and refugees fleeing to Israel.
Tens of thousands of refugees come to Egypt every year, from countries including Iraq and Sudan, in search of a better life.
But in recent years, dozens of Africans have been shot dead by the Egyptian police as they tried to cross into Israel.
