Prince Charles inspects the royal vessel

Prince Charles sets sail.

The Prince of Wales visited the Avenue of Sail and met the craftsmen who transformed the Sprit of Chartwell into the Royal Barge.

The upgraded boat will be the floating focal point for commemorating Queen Elizabeth's 60-year reign and will carry the monarch and senior members of the royal family across the river Thames.

After the meeting Charles took a trip across the river to the Belem, a three-masted ship from France, which is just one of many vessels coming from around the world for the celebration.

Sunday's pageant will feature a 1,000-strong fleet, and is expected to be the highlight of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
