Bangladesh's supreme court has rejected the final appeals of five men convicted of killing Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the country's independence leader, during a coup more than 30 years ago.

A five-member jury on Thursday upheld the death sentences of the former soldiers, as crowds of people celebrated the verdict in the streets.
