Imagine making your way to the back nine and having your golf swing interrupted by the door of an airplane falling from the sky and landing on the green.
A Canadair CL60 private jet lost its main cabin door while flying over a South Florida golf course, with the door landing on the Hallandale Beach golf course’s 16th fairway.
Luckily the incident occurred on one out of two days that the course is closed every year for routine maintenance and no one was hurt.
The plane made an emergency landing and was grounded safely at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood airport after rerouting from a scheduled landing at Pompano Beach Municipal Airport.
There have been other bizarre incidents of objects falling from the sky. During a rainstorm in St. Petersburg, Florida on September 1st, 1969, golf balls mysteriously started falling from the sky.
One explanation was that a golf course pond was swept up in a waterspout along with the golf balls that it contained. In Yoro, Honduras where it is reported that thousands of blindfish fall from the sky every year, the locals celebrate with an annual fish rain festival by cooking and eating the freshwater fish.
