A ceremony to mark the naming of Argentina's Iguazu Falls as one of the world's new seven wonders of nature took place alongside the falls on Saturday (May 26).
A plaque designating the Falls' new title was unveiled by the President of the New7Wonders organisation, Bernard Weber, at the event.
Argentina's natural wonder emerged a winner along with the Amazon rain forest, Halong Bay in Vietnam, Jeju Island in South Korea, Komodo in Indonesia, the Philippines' Puerto Princesa Underground River, and Table Mountain in South Africa.
The results are the product of a consultation process which ran from December 2007 to July 2009.
More than a million votes were cast to trim a list of more than 440 contenders in over 220 countries down to a shortlist of just 77.
A panel of experts cut that list down even further to 28 finalists.
The eventual winners were decided by a world-wide vote open to anyone anywhere on the planet by telephone, text message or internet social networks.
