Queen Elizabeth II, the Queen of England, may be feeling a little sour towards Spain's Queen Sofia for skipping out on her Diamond Jubilee lunch at Windsor Castle.

All this tension because of a teeny tiny territory called Gibraltar. Gibraltar is a small rock with an area of just 6.8 square kilometres, or 2.6 square miles located on the southern tip of Spain. Although it is attached to Andalucia, Spain, Britain controls Gibraltar.

The Brits captured Gibraltar during the 1704 War of the Spanish Succession, sparking a centuries-old beef between Spain and Britain. This tension is making headlines again when Queen Sofia retracted her decision to attend Queen Elizabeth's Jubilee lunch celebration set to take place today.

Many think the move is due to the Gibraltar spat, but there may be other reasons, among them Queen Sofia's rocky relationship with King Juan Carlos. Their decision not to celebrate their Golden Anniversary is the latest indicator that the couple is estranged.
