Dutch blamed for Srebrenica deaths

The Netherlands has been ordered to compensate the families of three Bosnian Muslims killed in the 1995 Srebrenica massacre.

That's after Dutch UN peacekeeping troops handed the men over to Serb forces. An appeals court at The Hague said the soldiers should have suspected that the men were facing death.

In its judgement, the court turned around a previous ruling which held the UN responsible for issuing orders to the Dutch batallion.

This judgement says the Dutch state gave direct orders to the troops and failed to protect civilians.

Al Jazeera's Andrew Simmons reports from the Hague.
