Kenyan youth map their home

Kibera slum on the outskirts of Nairobi, the Kenyan capital, is one of the largest in Africa, but it remains out of bounds for most of the world.

It is also one of the continent's most dangerous slums and there are no maps of the area, which makes it easy to get lost in the maze of winding alleyways.

But young people in Kibera are now taking it upon themselves to map their home. They have created the first free and openly available digital map.

Al Jazeera's Catherine Soi reports.
