Gunmen shot dead a top Afghan peace negotiator in the capital Kabul on Sunday (May 13), dealing a fresh blow to the country's attempts to negotiate a deal with Taliban insurgents, security sources said.
Maulvi Arsala Rahmani, seen here in file footage, was a former Taliban minister and one of the most senior members of Afghanistan's High Peace Council.
The council was set up by President Hamid Karzai two years ago to open negotiations with the insurgents.
