STORY: The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended a dinner celebrating Great Britain's Olympic and Paralympic athletes at the Albert Hall on Friday.

The royal couple, married just over a year ago, were greeted by Lord Moynihan, chairman of the British Olympic Association. They were ushered inside to a pre-dinner reception where they met British Olympic gold medal winners and Team GB ambassadors, including Steve Redgrave, Kelly Holmes and Denise Lewis.

William and Kate were to be treated to performances in honor of British athletes by Take That singer Gary Barlow, artist Will Young and singer

Alfie Boe.

The is called Our Greatest Team Rises and the royals attendance fits in with their role as ambassadors for Team GB and Paralympics GB. Prince Harry has joined the couple as a cheerleader for the games in the UK.

All will be on hand to welcome the Olympic Torch relay to Buckingham Palace on July 26 and witness three torchbearers carrying the flame through the palace grounds just a day before the Games' opening ceremony.
