Mexico's health minister has said that an epidemic of the H1N1 flu virus in his country has passed its peak and is now declining.

The announcement came as the government continued to ban large gatherings in an attempt to contain the spread of infection. Mexico City has virtually emptied out and markets normally popular with tourists are deserted.

Craig Mauro reports on how Mexicans are taking stock of the fact that the first case of the virus was reported in their country.
