The biggest zoological garden in Jharkhand is the Jawaharlal Nehru Biological Park in Bokaro. The zoo built in the early 90 s has different varieties of birds and animals brought from different parts of the world. Built in the late 80s and early 90s, the zoo has many animals and birds of different varieties from different parts of the world with the big cats attracting major attention. The very fact that the zoo was successful in breeding white tigers, Royal Bengal tigers and Asiatic lions that have been fast decreasing in numbers everywhere else catapulted the zoo into the limelight. Some of the cubs that were successfully bred were sent to other zoos for well being.
The zoo also has facilities for boating in an artificial lake and an area exclusively segregated for kids to play.
