Voter registration has been an increasingly sensitive issue between Republicans and Democrats as the US presidential election looms.

In three US states, those convicted of serious crimes and felonies, have no voting rights. They account for nearly five and a half million potential voters.

But in Florida, the ban on voting rights to felons has been overturned. Al Jazeera's Mike Kirsch reports.
