STORY: Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, visits a home for the underprivileged children and victims of human trafficking in eastern India's Kolkata city.
Andrew spent a few hours at 'Nilojoy', a childcare home run by a non- government organization Women Interlink Foundation meant for rescued, trafficked and orphaned girls and children of AIDS victims.
Lauding the efforts of 'Nilojoy' workers, Prince Andrew said that the children were a part of the future and had every right to be educated and lead a respectable life in the society.
"I have a great deal of sympathy and understanding for the enormous amount of work that you are doing in order to be able to prevent trafficking of young women and the work that you all are doing here and at your other centers is not only to be highly commended but recognized for the enormous values that you are creating," said Prince Andrew.
'Nilojoy', located in North 24 Pargana district of the province is supported by the British Deputy High Commission and is a home for 76 girls rescued from red light areas.
The British Prince donated two books written by Duchess of York to the underprivileged girls.
The Duke of York is on a week-long tour of India as part of the royal family's visit to former colonies to mark the diamond jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II's coronation.
