Diplomatic immunity claim by Strauss-Kahn rejected

2012-05-01 15

A New York judge has rejected a petition for diplomatic immunity by former IMF head Dominic Strauss-Kahn.

Lawyers claimed the rule should have applied at the time the ex-finance chief was charged with alleged sexual assault in May 2011.

The civil suit by hotel maid Nafissatou Diallo will now go ahead.

The criminal case was dropped last August.
