A civil suit against former International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn by the hotel maid who accused of sexual assault, is moving forward.

A New York judge rejected Strauss-Kahn's motion to dismiss the suit on Tuesday. The former IMF chief maintained he enjoyed diplomatic immunity at the time of his encountered with Nafissatou Diallo. Diallo accused him of forcing her to perform oral sex on him. Strauss-Kahn says their encounter was consensual.

The judge ruled that Strauss-Kahn's decision to resign from his job days after his arrest effectively ended his immunity. His attorneys say they are disappointed but plan to fight the claim.
