Italy has offered to pay around 150,000 euros to each to the families of two Indian fisherman shot dead by Italian soldiers.

Italy says the two men, who were on board a cargo ship off the Indian coast, mistook the fishermen for pirates.

The two soldiers are currently being held in jail in Kerala. Italy wants to them to face trial at home.
