Mortal Kombat became an instant hit within the video game industry when it debuted in arcades in 1992 and made available within homes on the Super NES in 1993. The development of fatalities separated the Mortal Kombat franchise from its various competitors such as its strongest competitor, Street Fighter and has played an active role in what Mortal Kombat is today. While Mortal Kombat has had an appearance on mobile gaming platforms in the past on the PSP and Nintendo 3DS, up to this point the true Mortal Kombat experience has remained exclusively on video game consoles. Come May 1st, this trend will come to an end when Mortal Kombat debuts on the PlayStation Vita.
Utilizing the impressive hardware and features integrated within the PlayStation Vita, Mortal Kombat will deliver the entire console experience within the hands of gamers (literally) without sacrificing any of what has made Mortal Kombat the franchise it is today. With the launch of Mortal Kombat on Vita less than a month away, we had to check out the game at PAX East 2012 and catch up with the team on NetherRealm's upcoming release.
