Distracted driving has always been a problem — probably since people were taking chariots into battle and running passengers across brigand-infested woodlands in stagecoaches. But now, with smartphones just a microchip or two away from becoming permanent cybernetic implants, people can't resist the urge to talk and text even when they're supposed to be in control of vehicles that could potentially kill themselves and others. Unfortunately, when people can't be responsible for their own actions, there's always someone around who cries out that "there ought to be a law." In this case, maybe that someone is right...
