http://thelifelensproject.com Lifelens is an Imagine Cup 2011 US finalist with a point-of-care solution for malaria diagnosis, which relies on smartphone techology using an augmented mobile smartphone application. The key problem the Lifelens project attempts to address is child mortality rates caused by the lack of detection and availability of treatment of malarial diseases. Using a point-of-care diagnosis, which allows for analysis and disease detection provides the potential to reduce the cost of diagnosis and treatment of malaria. Lower cost translates to more children around the world being treated at the same level of funding currently available.
