Syrian soldiers on Monday (April 9) shot dead a cameraman working for Lebanon's Al-Jadeed television channel near the border between the two countries, the television channel said.

The television channel said cameraman Ali Shaaban was on the Lebanese side of the frontier, in the northern Lebanese region of Wadi Khaled, when soldiers opened fire on a car carrying the Al-Jadeed crew.

Last month Lebanese residents said Syrian soldiers crossed into Lebanon's Bekaa valley in pursuit of Syrian rebels, and there have been several reports of cross-border shooting or shelling, which has wounded people inside Lebanon.
