Amateur video out of Syria shows the relentless shelling of Aleppo.

The video, which could not be independently verified by Reuters comes as the U.N. Security Council endorsed envoy Kofi Annan's plan to end the violence.

Annan has told the Syrian government and opposition that the year-long conflict must end at 6:00 a.m. local time on April 12 if the government meets an April 10 deadline to silence its weapons

He addressed the UN via videolink from Geneva

(SOUNDBITE) (ENGLISH) U.N. ENVOY KOFI ANNAN, SAYING:

"We must silence the tanks, helicopters, mortars, guns and stop all other forms of violence too - sexual abuse, torture, executions, abductions, destruction of homes, forced displacement and other abuses, including on children,"

His comments came after the 15-nation Security unanimously adopted a so-called "presidential statement" endorsing the deadline and warning Damascus of "further steps" if Syria did not meet the deadline.

Footage out of Homs shows few signs that anyone has given up the fight. Men said to be from the Free Syria Army continue to battle for control.

The United Nations says that more than 9,000 people have been killed in Syria since the uprising began more than a year ago,. The government blames the violence on foreign backed insurgent groups.
