Unlike cellphone plans, for instance, that require you to commit to a contract that lasts a couple of years, you can usually cancel such a subscription if you like (and resume it again on a similar whim). Other businesses are taking note and giving consumers more options when offering their services. Thanks to this collective consciousness gravitating toward contract-free lifestyles, will 2012 be the year of subscription-based services?
