STORY: The who's who of Hollywood and music came together Tuesday (April 3) night for the 2012 Revlon Concert for the Rainforest Fund at New York's Carnegie Hall.

Sting and his wife, Trudie Styler, started the organization in 1989 with the goal of protecting the Amazon rainforest and the land of its indigenous people. Since then the couple has saved over 28 million acres of forest around the world. However, Styler said it's hard to list their achievements while roadblocks continue to make their job tougher.

"The rainforest is being destroyed and people use to go and like knick things under the radar. As I said tonight it's become business to raise the Amazon rainforest which is really, it belongs to us all, it's commons, it belongs to everybody and indeed the indigenous people who we represent through Amazon and through 23 other countries," explained Styler.

The night began with a concert at Carnegie Hall with Jennifer Hudson, Sir Elton John and Bruno Mars lending their voices to the cause. Styler produced the event, teaming unlikely pairs for rare performances.

Good friend and fellow musician Elton John said the fundraiser is one not to be missed.

Actress turned singer Rita Wilson made her Carnegie Hall debut by singing a duet with country singer Vince Gill. Her movie star husband, Tom Hanks, never doubted her singing skills.

The night ended with a star-studded dinner and auction attended by Jennifer Hudson, and designer Donna Karen. Styler said her goal for the night was to raise at least $3 million U.S dollars.
