Chinese President Hu Jintao visited Cambodia's Angkor Wat on Sunday (April 1) during a three-day visit coinciding with a meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Chinese state media reported.

Hu visited the Takeo Temple, a section of the ancient Angkor complex being restored with assistance from the Chinese government. There, he met Chinese archaeologists, state broadcaster CCTV showed.

During his visit, the first by a Chinese leader since 2000, Hu asked Cambodia not to push talks on the issue of the South China Sea "too fast" as he pledged to double bilateral trade to 5 billion U.S. dollars and announced fresh aid to the impoverished country.
