Dr. David Samadi, prostate cancer robotic surgeon, discusses the benefits of robotic prostatectomy surgery over radiation in treating prostate cancer. Highlighting a recent study from Memorial Sloan Kettering, he shares that the risk of prostate cancer metastasis is reduced by 65 percent following surgery, compared to radiation.

Following robotic prostatectomy surgery, side effect and risks continue to decrease. However, radiation can introduce many long-term issues including rectal and bladder bleeding, as well as a 5 percent increased risk of bladder cancer and rectal cancer.
