George Clooney was arrested at Sudan's embassy in Washington on Friday (March 16) during a protest against an escalating emergency as the country blocks humanitarian aid from reaching a volatile border region where hundreds of thousands of people are short of food. Clooney, his father Nick and other anti-Sudanese government activists ignored three police warnings to leave the embassy grounds and were led away to a Secret Service van in handcuffs. Clooney, who was a guest at the White House earlier in the week, posted bail and walked away free later on Friday.
Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards has apologized to Mick Jagger for derogatory comments he made about the lead singer in his 2010 memoir "Life", which caused a rift within the band. In comments reported by Rolling Stone magazine, the two rock'n'roll veterans agreed it was time to move on just ahead of an eagerly anticipated world tour to celebrate the band's 50 years together, which has been pushed back until 2013 at the earliest.
Russell Brand turned himself in to New Orleans police on Thursday after an arrest warrant was issued over an incident with an iPhone. Bail was set at $5,000 for Brand and he was released shortly after his arrest. The British comedian was booked for simple criminal damage after a photographer accused him of grabbing his iPhone and tossing it through a window.
British actor Malcolm McDowell received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Friday. The 68 year old actor is best known for his work in "A Clockwork Orange" and "If ...". McDowell made a brief appearance as a butler in this year's best picture Oscar winner "The Artist."
