The aftermath of a bomb attack on a church in the central Nigerian city of Jos.

Authorities said at least three people were killed when a suspected suicide bomber hit Finber's Catholic Church in the Rayfield suburb.

Witnesses said the bomb went off when church security tried to stop a man dressed in military uniform from driving his car into the building.

In retaliation for the bombing, authorities said Christian youths had killed at least 10 people in reprisal attacks across the city.

Jos has become the main flashpoint for tensions between Nigeria's Christian and Muslim communities.

Islamist sect Boko Haram has claimed responsibility for a wave of church bombings in the area.

There are fears the group is trying to ignite sectarian conflict in the country, which is split roughly evenly between Christians and Muslims.
