Thousands of Bahamian youths crowded the stands of a stadium in Nassau on Monday (March 5) to rally and perform for Britain's Prince Harry.
Waving Bahamian flags, the schoolchildren jumped up to cheer as Harry walked into the stadium. Groups of children marched past the prince, wearing the uniforms of their school, scout group, or band. A marching band kept the beat as students from all over the nation of islands took turns walking past the royal.
Harry is in The Bahamas as part of an overseas tour in celebration of the Diamond Jubilee anniversary for Queen Elizabeth II, marking her 60 years on the throne.
This is Harry's first visit to The Bahamas, an independent nation that is part of the Commonwealth of Nations and recognizes Queen Elizabeth II as head of state. The third in line to the throne, this overseas tour, which also includes stops in Belize, Jamaica and Brazil, is Harry's first time representing the queen abroad.
Prince Harry will depart for Jamaica on Monday afternoon and complete his tour in Brazil on March 8. The Diamond Jubilee is being celebrated throughout 2012 to mark the anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's ascension to the throne.
