A student opened fire with a handgun in the cafeteria of an Ohio high school east of Cleveland Monday, killing one student and wounding four others.

He was later chased from the building by a teacher and gave himself up. Video shows the suspect being led into a police station.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) CHARDON POLICE CHIEF TIM MCKENNA SAYING:

"We started searching the areas and shortly thereafter we came up with the suspect. He is in custody. No name will be released because he hasn't been charged yet, he is a juvenile. The sad news is I know from my people being downtown we have one deceased student right now. Five injured, recently got called that the one student has passed away. That's the sad new for all of us today. I want to assure our community of Chardon that we are safe. All the students of our high school and all school campuses have been reunited with their parents."

The Ohio shooting is the worst at a U.S. high school in 11 months.
