Chinese Regime Appoints Career Law Enforcer to Tibetan Region

Just ahead of the Tibetan New Year and the fourth anniversary of mass protests in Tibet, the Chinese regime has stepped up security in ethnic Tibetan regions in southwest China.

Over the weekend a career law enforcement official named Liu Zuoming was appointed as Communist Party secretary of Sichuan Province's second largest Tibetan area, Aba Prefecture.

According to the Aba government website, Liu told local officials in a speech on Saturday that (quote) "There can be not the slightest relaxation on stability."

Before his new appointment, Liu was the Party Committee deputy secretary general of Sichuan Province.
